Happy Earth Day. One way to celebrate this day in a global pandemic is to make a game out of reducing your plastic use. This is fun to do with kids. It’s fun and creative to think of alternatives that we already have in our homes.
So, we’re going to reduce our plastic waste. How? Glass containers are great to store food in. Empty pasta sauce containers are great to put dried food in, leftover pasta, etc. Beeswax wraps are fabulous. Interestingly, food tastes better after being cover with beeswax wraps. If you are crafty, you can make your own beeswax wraps. When you are at the grocery story, consider buying pasta in boxes and not plastic.
Another grocery store tip is thinking of bananas as already having being wrapped. Everyone can make a difference and that will encourage others. Share your tips and that can help others find a new way. It is exciting to try something new. The trick to reducing your household plastic use is to not be discouraged or overwhelmed. Start with small steps and make it a fun game.
